Lesson: 9 - Draw Sprites and Costumes for sprites

Purpose : Students learn to create new costumes for Sprites and to draw new Backdrops.

Materials Required

Scratch software.

Prior knowledge

Students should know about drawing and painting.

  1. Draw the given below Sprite in a new Scratch file using the Paint tool. Teacher should explain what are the different methods of inserting a sprite? (Insert from library, Draw by paint tool, upload from local drive, Select from library by using surprise option).

  3. Create a Backdrop and a Sprite using paint options. Draw the below given picture in a Scratch file using the Paint tool. The teacher should explain the different methods of inserting backdrops(Insert from library, Draw by paint tool, upload from local drive, Select from library by using surprise option).

  • Teacher's Instruction
    1. Teachers should teach how to insert Backdrops and Sprites.
    2. Teachers should explain to the Students the difference between a Backdrop and a Sprite. Show that the Sprite can be moved around on the stage.
    3. The Students should use their own creativity to draw unique Sprites and Backdrops.
    4. Teachers should use the technical words like Fill, Outline, Line, Polygon, Polyline, Oval, Flip Horizontal, Flip Vertical etc..
